He had worked at one time for Selfon's Pawn Shop. He served with the United States Navy during World War II, and was a member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Optimist Club of Lancaster and the American Legion.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Dorothy; his children: Valerie Albright, of St. Mary's, GA, Sandra, wife of J. Michael Widder of Lititz, PA, and John, husband of Kathy Frank of Vero Beach, FL; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving are a stepson, Donald Mooney, husband of Tina, of Albany, NY and stepdaughter, Patricia VonStetten, of Lancaster, PA.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Life Celebration Memorial Service at the Spacht Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 S. Broad St., Lititz, PA on Thursday, February 10th, at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Peter Schwale-Fry officiating. Private inurnment will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, PA. The family will receive friends at the Spacht Funeral Home on Thursday from 12:30 PM until the time of services. If desired, memorials may be sent in John's memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr., P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
