Franklin Wheeler, 83, of 932 Grant Ave., Dixon, died suddenly at his home March 6. He was born June 12, 1898, in Newbury, Vermont, the son of Warren and Alice (Barber) Wheeler.

He married Grace Pillischafske, September 6, 1948 in Haverhill, New Hampshire.

Survivors include his wife, Grace; three stepsons, James Yoakum of Dixon, Ernest Yoakum of Aurora and Benjamin Yoakum of Denver, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Norman (Rosabelle) Perkins of Sandwich; two brothers, Fred of Center Conway, New Hampshire and Luther of Pike, New Hampshire; one sister, Mrs. Christina King of East Brookfield, Mass.; 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 1121 N. Galena Ave., Dixon, Ill. The Rev. Jack Smith, pastor of the Pine Creek Christian Church, rural Polo, will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
