Johann Peter Hauenstein/Howenstine, son of Johann Ludwig Hauenstein and his wife, Maria Margretha Hoffmann, was born in Bolanden, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany 17 July 1782. He married Philipina Margretha Greser in a civil ceremony in Albisheim, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany 13 December 1810 and in a church ceremony 20 January 1811, also in Albisheim. Peter, Philipina and family immigrated to the United States, leaving Bremen 14 May 1819. They settled in Donegal Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Peter and Pheba had eight children: Anna Catharina married Abraham Fultz, Jacob H. married Lucinda Dull, Johanetta died young, Johann Peter Jr. married1) Lydia Weimer, married2) Catherine Pyle/Pile (Memorial 65374499), Johanetta "Hannah" married George Moore (Memorial 40142963), Caroline married John Dull (Memorial 42169390), Maria Philipina (Memorial 65239294) and Frederika (no further record).
