When she retired from their business she was not ready to completely quit working and worked at Winn Dixie, and in 1994 moved to CT to be near her daughter. She worked at Stop and Shop, in New Milford. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of New Milford. Betty loved life. She was fortunate enough to enjoy traveling to many places with her family - she loved to be on the go. Betty loved to read, enjoyed music and games and loved dogs.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Charles Shely and his companion Petra, Robert Shely, her daughter, Melanie Traynor and her husband Peter. She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren, Allison, Kristopher and Joshua; her brother, Leland Sparks and sister, Frances Gullett, Bill and Rena Arnold, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Sparks.
Burial following at Lexington Cemetery.
