Mrs. William Mayher, 81, widow of the former mayor of Greeley, and a pioneer of this city, died at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Henrietta Dille, 2002 Eighth avenue, at noon Monday, following a long illness.
Mrs. Mayher first came to Greeley as Mrs. James M. Dille in 1877. She and her first husband moved to California where he died in 1884.
Returning to Greeley, Mrs. Dille served as assistant postmaster during the terms of L.B. Willard, J.M.D. Petrikin, A.W. Durkee and D.E. Gray.
In 1913, Mrs. Dille married William Mayher who died in 1923.
The deceased was born in Mentor, O., (Ohio ) in 1851. Her maiden name was Mary E. Scribner.
Mrs. Mayher had suffered a stroke while visiting in California in June of this year. She had never recovered from the effects. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Henrietta Dille, and two grandchildren, Mrs. Clyde Fugato of Colorado Springs and Frank Dille of Greeley.
She was a member of the Congregational Church.
