Funeral Service Held For Victim Of Heart Attack

Funeral services for Rip Sellars, 51, were held at the First Baptist Church here Monday morning, at 10 o'clock, with Rev. R.E. Wright, pastor of the Rose Avenue Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. A.J. Morgan. Burial was in Breckenridge Cemetery with Kiker Funeral Home officiating.

Sellars died at 5 o'clock Saturday evening, following a heart attack. He had been an independent oil driller in Breckenridge for a number of years.

Sellars suffered the attack in the lobby of the Burch Hotel immediately after having eaten his dinner in the café. He had been in serious condition for about a week, doctors having warned him of his condition. He was taken to the hospital in a Kiker ambulance. From the Kiker funeral home it was reported he died about five minutes after his arrival at the hospital.

Born February 25, 1899 in Mississippi, he moved to Texas with his family while still a child, living in Hamilton. He moved to Breckenridge in 1920.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Gene, Jr., a student at A&M College; two sisters, Mrs. R.M. McLaughlin of Tyler, and Mrs. Hugh Bunton of Shreveport, La.

Pallbearers were Homer Tudor, Bill Brown, Pete Lohan, N.L. Brandon, Nap Thomas, and Haskel Key. Honorary pallbearers were Everett Humble, Ed Jameson, L.C. Reed, E.L. Minchew, Robert Terry, C.W. McPherson, Dr. W.S. Parks, Bert Amick, Paul Williams, Bob Harkrider, R.I. McArron, C.M. Giles, Fred Steed, A.L. Carr, and Walter Wilson.
