Wife of Grover Romey Dies Late Thursday at 62
Dies at Daughter's Home North of Berne After Long Illness
Mrs. Grace Romey, 62, wife of Grover Romey of west of Geneva, died at 6:35 p.m. Thursday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Glenn Jones, two miles north of Berne. Death followed an extended illness of cancer. Mrs. Romey twice submitted to surgery, the last time in April of 1956. Since then she had failed.
Mrs. Romey had been in the Jones home 11 weeks and was bedfast most of the time since then. Up until September she was able to do most of her housework.
A native of Jay County, Mrs. Romey was born April 28, 1894, the daughter of Cyrus and Alice Hoppess. She was married to Grover Romey January 20, 1915. The couple had resided west of Geneva ever since their marriage.
Surviving are the husband; three daughters, Mrs. Glenn Jones north of Berne; Mrs. Chester Adams and Mrs. Glenn Adams, both of Geneva R. R.; a son, John Romey, at home; six grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence Hoppess, and two sisters, Mrs. R.E. Plant, Gary, and Mrs. Arthur Pritchard, Fort Smith, Arkansas
Mrs. Romey was a member of the Union Chapel Methodist Church in Hartford Township.
The body is at the Hardy and Hardy Funeral Home in Geneva where friends may call after 7 p.m. today.
A brother, George Hoppess is deceased.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the hardy and Hardy Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Riley Case, pastor of the Geneva Methodist Circuit officiating. Burial will be in the Stahl Cemetery.
