Leander N. Crittenden died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lake, 702 Wallace street. Death was due to diseases incident to old age, and resulting after a long illness.
Mr. Crittenden was born in Genesee county, New York, April 17, 1817. He married Hannah Dwyer (should be Dwy) in Kent, Conn., and the couple came west soon afterward and settled in Winnebago county.
Twelve children were born to them, seven of whom survive. The children are Mrs. Frank Smith, Esman (should be Esmond), N.D.; Mrs. Elliott, Iowa Falls, Iowa; Mrs. A.W. Hickey, Egan, Ill.; Theodore G. Crittenden, Harmon L. Crittenden, Robert Crittenden and Mrs. Gilbert Lake of Rockford. His wife passed away eleven years ago."
