Son of Thomas Jefferson Forsythe and Nancy Jane Herral. Married June 25, 1866 at Brownwood, Brown County, Texas Elizabeth Caroline Williams, daughter of John T. Williams and Annie Epley. They had four children: Mary Ann, Sarah Louise, James Newton, and a baby boy who died at birth, December 28, 1880 and was buried in the William Ranch Cemetery, Williams Ranch, Texas. Jasper remarried April 7, 1886 in Brownwood, Brown, Texas, Nancy Roxie Ann Parr. William enlisted in Captain Benjamin W Watson Company, Texas Cavalry-26 Mar 1862 at Chambers Creek, near Waxahatchie, Texas as a Pvt. His Company later became Company C, 19th Regiment Texas Calvakirty, C.S.A. His enlistment was for the period of the war.
