Bernice Allene (Kupfer) Ferguson was born November 12, 1905 in a sod house in Fremont, Nebraska. She was the 2nd child born to Otto D Kupfer and Verna (Wilday) Kupfer. She married Walter M Ferguson on November 7, 1926 in Beardstown. Bernice was a wonderful cook and seamstress and yet, could shingle a house and able to do other handy jobs usually reserved for men. She and Walter had 2 children: James O Ferguson and Joyce A (Ferguson) Calvert. She died at the Rosewood Care Center in E. Peoria, Illinois but she always treasured her home at 1115 Jefferson Street in Beardstown, IL, the home in which she was also married.
