Willis had constant communication over the years with the Lillard families, even some who had moved to Missouri. He was living in 1820 Rockingham Co VA. He had married his 1st wife Phoebe Fox there on 4 Dec 1818. He and Phoebe divorced. They had one son William H. Gray born abt 1819 in Virginia and died aft 1880 married Martha Ward.
He had one son with Sallie Stewart, James Stewart born 1841, and married 2nd Eliza Jane Cornwell, widow of Samuel Hannon. They had no children.
