Visitation for August "Pete" Anderson, 86, of Milford, will be from 4-7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. services at the Milford Christian Church. Revs. Neil Larimore and Gary Milton will officiate.
Burial, with graveside military rites by the Milford American Legion Post 723, the Watseka American Legion Post 23 and the Iroquois County VFW Post 7450, will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Milford. Memorials may be made to the Milford Christian Church or to Prairie States Christian Service Camp. He died Saturday (Jan. 14, 2006) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka. Knapp Funeral Home, Milford, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Anderson farmed in the Milford and Stockland area. He was born Oct. 10, 1919, in Stockland, the son of August and Clara Embom Anderson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in communications. He was a member of the Milford Christian Church and served on the Prairie States Christian Services Camp Board for many years.
Surviving are his wife, the former Vivian Totheroh, whom he married Jan. 9, 1954, at Prairie Green Church in rural Wellington; two sisters, Evelyn Hallaron of Sun City, Ariz., Mary Anderson of Milford; and three brothers, Lester Anderson of O'Fallon and John Anderson and Sidney Anderson, both of Milford.
