Services for Hiley James Barrett, Sr., 85, father of Otoe County Commissioner Hiley Barrett, Jr., will be held Monday at 2 P.M., at the Gude Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Gary Nienkamp officiating. Burial will be in the Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska.
Barrett died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital.
He was born in Athelstan, Iowa, on September 1, 1894, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Franklin Barrett. He married Ethel Marie Earith in Tabor, Fremont County, Iowa, on April 1, 1915. She preceded him on February 4, 1973. A son, Mervin J. Barrett, died on March 1946, and three sisters also preceded him.
Barrett, a farmer, moved to Nebraska City in 1930 and also lived in Iowa and Missouri.
Survivors are sons, Hilley, Jr., Dale, Bernard, and Norman, all of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Delbert, Fremont, Nebraska, Donald, Salinas, California, Clyde, Syracuse, Nebraska, and Ron, Unadilla, daughters, Mrs. Thelma Womach, Mrs. Virginia Shallenberger, and Mrs. Cathleen Olney, all of Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Mrs. Betty Herold, Jackson, Wyoming. 37 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren.
