Enlisted on April 1, 1863 at Camp Vance, North Carolina as a Private in the 34th North Carolina Infantry, Company A at the age of 23. POW on May 23, 1864 at Jericho Mills, Virginia. Confined on June 8, 1864 at Point Lookout, Maryland. Transferred on July 8, 1864 to Elmira, New York. Died of disease as a POW.

He was from Haywood County, North Carolina.  He was a son of John Jackson Fisher and Mary "Polly" Rogers Fisher.
