In the 1870 U.S. Census, Sarah was living with the family of her sister, Mary Emeline (Lucas) Craighill.

In the 1900 U.S. Census, Sarah was living with the family of her nephew, Dr. Charles Craighill Lucas (1861-1923), and his wife, Frances Thomas (Craighill) Lucas (1861-1950). Charles was the son of Sarah's brother, John William Lucas (4 Jan 1824 - 26 Aug 1881), and his wife, Mary (Porter) Lucas.

Sarah died unmarried. She is buried in the plot of her sister, Mary Emeline (Lucas) Craighill - #65084353.
