Maynard A. Korgel, 80, Minot, ND, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 in a Minot hospital.

Maynard was born on May 3, 1922, in Ward County, north of Minot, ND, the son of Ethel Korgel. He was raised and educated in Eureka Township, Ward County. He married Helen Bloms on July 9, 1946 in Minot. They lived, farmed and operated their dairy farm in Eureka Township from 1946 until 1981. They retired from the dairy operation, and continued to raise horses and exotic animals, including fallow sheep, mouflon sheep, geese and peacocks. His wife Helen died on April 8, 1992. Maynard continued to live on the farm until 1998, when he moved into Minot due to health reasons, where he had since lived.

Maynard was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot. He was a former member of the Minot Trail Riders, the Mouse River Trail Riders, the ND Appaloosa Horse Club, the American Paint Horse Association and the ND Draft Horse Association. He formerly served as board member and past president of Eureka Township.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ethel and his wife Helen.

Funeral Mass: Monday, March 24, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot, ND.

Rosary Recitation and Prayer Service: Sunday, March 23, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.

Visitation: Sunday, March 23, 2003 from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
