He was a native of Mount Holly, son of Lunie M. Cope and the late John H. Cope.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and he served in the Vietnam War.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Cope will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Belmont with the Revs. Fred A. Helms Jr. and William Beam officiating.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly.
