Dorothy J. Peterson, 87, of Peoria, Ill., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria, Ill.

Dorothy was born in Peoria to Herbert and Dorothy (Lottman) LeRoy on Oct. 20, 1923. She married Wayne E. Peterson on Jan. 9, 1944, in Peoria, with whom she recently celebrated her 67th wedding anniversary.

He survives along with two daughters, Billie (Dennis) Lehmann of Peoria and Kathleen (Robert) Wagner of Springfield; one son, Stephen (Jane) Peterson of Dahinda, Ill.; one sister, Phyllis Barham of Eureka; and one brother, Harold (Carol) LeRoy of Metamora.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Dorothy graduated from Peoria Central High School and worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company and as a deputy circuit clerk for the Peoria County Circuit Clerk's office.

She was a lifelong member of University United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School in her early years.

She and Wayne enjoyed camping, traveling and fishing with her family.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
