Born January 26, 1882, in Thornliebank, Scotland, he was a son of the late Hugh and Sarah McEwen Mewha and the husband of the late Margaret Main Mewha.
Mr. Mewha was an engineer with the American Viscose Corp. for 28 years prior to his retirement in 1950 and had been a resident of Indiana since 1956 when he came here with his son Alan and family. He was a member of the Bible Presbyterian Church, Chester, PA., and of Penn Lodge 709 F&AM of Chester.
His survivors include a son, Robert Malcolm Mewha, and a sister, Mrs. Sadie Temple, both of Chester. There are also eight grandchildren and one grandchild. (Two sons, Donald Main and Dr. Alan P. Mewha, both died in December 1958). Dr. Alan P. Mewha was Chairman of the Geography Dept. at Indiana State College at the time of his death.
Friends will be received Thursday evening, at William S. Bleyler Funeral Home, 500 West 22nd St., Chester, where services will be conducted Friday, February 19, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be made in Chester Rural Cemetery, Chester, PA.
