Charles Rogge, 87, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011.
He was born January 4, 1924 in Weiser, Idaho, to Margery and John Rogge. Chuck, as he was called by his friends, was raised by his grandfather, George W. Luck and graduated from Weiser high school in 1942.
After spending three years in England with the Air Force, he returned home. Charles graduated from the University of Idaho in 1950, moved to Boise, and he enjoyed the rest of his life living in this area. He married Amy Allman in 1956. They raised one daughter, Melissa.
Charles worked for the State of Idaho, retiring in 1976. Chuck grew up spending summers in McCall, ID on his grandfather's land, Lucks Point. He had vast knowledge of Idaho history and geography ranging all across our great state. He will be remembered as a legendary story teller by all his family and friends.
Charles is preceded in death by his mother, Margery McKennie; his wife of 40 years, Amy; and his brother, John D. Rogge.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Drake; grandchildren, Benjamin, Anna and Rebecca Drake; great-granddaughter Leah Hollis; sister-in-law, Bernice Allman; niece, Carol Mosley; sister-in-law, Virginia Rogge; nephew, Eric Rogge, all from Boise; and numerous relatives out of state.
Services will be held at Summers Funeral Home Boise, ID on Friday, February 4, 2011, at 3:00 PM.
