Landon Rich Pugmire was born in St. Charles, Idaho on February 26, 1886 to Vincent McKay Pugmire and Nancy Emeline Rich Pugmire. He was the fifth son to join the family. When he was two his father was called to serve a mission to the Southern States. He died while on his mission there in Alabama. Landon's dear mother raised the six boys having the last son born after her husband left on his mission. Landon helped his mother in every possible way on their ranch as he grew up. He fell in love with Carrie Wilhellmsen Brewer and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 12, 1907. He was a very good rancher, having a good business head. Many people asked him for his advice. Landon and Carrie were very thrifty and worked together to establish a house of love and order. They were blessed with two sons, Landon Burdette and Laurel Thomas. Landon was an honest man and he taught his sons to always give a days work for a days pay. He always paid cash for they things they needed and never went into debt. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he loved serving as a Ward Teacher. He also served on various committees for raising money for the ward and also the commnity. He and his wife sent both sons on missions for the church. He had a testimony of the gospel and was a firm believer in the power of prayer. Landon loved to fish and he was always successful. He often said he could communicate with our Heavenly Father as he sat quietly fishing. He also loved to hunt. He truly loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was always interested in their accomplishment in life and their grades in school. Landon was very civic minded. He was Chairman of the Village Board and was instumental in getting water piped into the town of St. Charles. He was president of the Bear Lake Cattlemen's Association, served as a trustee of the St. Charles School District for twenty two years, served on the Fielding High School Board for four years, served two terms as a County Commissioner and was also Mayor of St. Charles for nineteen years. He loved to work and was blessed that he was able to work right up until the day he died. Landon lived a full life before returning to his heavenly home on August 21, 1962.
