He was born in Staunton, VA. Moved to Richmond about 1890 where he married his wife, Lucy Stella Snyder. He ran a successful business, Cease Bros Wine and Liquors, with his brothers, Macon and George. An old family note was found that said: Lorenzo was one of quite a few brothers in the whiskey business that covered a large area in the south including Tennessee. Enjoyed his business too much. Collapsed in the snow and died of over exposure at the age of 39.
