Funeral services for George Edward Shawver, 85, were conducted at the Megargel Methodist church.

A retired farmer, Shawver lived in Archer County since 1922. They farmed on the H.E. Brown place, four miles north of Olney for 15 years, then moved to the ranch of the late W.R. Farmer, 14 miles north of Olney. Shawver retired in 1940 and moved to Archer City.

George Shawver married Sudie Blakney on 24 September 1896 in Weatherford, Parker County, Texas.

Survivors: five sons - J.M. Shawver and Lee Shawver of Megargel, Tom Shawver of Archer City, Garvin Shawver of Iowa Park; V.M. Shawver of Toledo, OH; six daughters - Mrs. J.B. Parish of Olney, Mrs. M.L. McCuistion and Mrs. J.A. Ward of Megargel, Mrs. E.O. Lamb of Wichita Falls, Mrs. C.E. Norred of Alba, NM, Mrs. E.C. Wales of Archer City, 27 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, brother - Floyd Shawver of Vineyard, sister - Miss Lula Shawver.

On their 50th wedding anniversary, the announcement states that they married at Gibtown, Jack County, Texas.
