Mrs. Bessie Shawver, 96, was born on the Wise County and Jack County line near the town of Green Elm, now a ghost town. Mrs. Shawver was a homemaker and retired clerk. She was a member of University Methodist Church at Wichita Falls where she lived from 1949 until 1988 when she returned to Olney.
Survived by two sons - Bob Shawver and Bruce Shawver; one daughter - Joyce Cole; two sisters - Martha and Louise Duffy; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
