MRS. BREWER RITES WEDNESDAY

Mrs. Effie Elizabeth Brewer, 84, a former Chariton resident, died Dec. 15, 1974 in Santa Barbara, Calif. She was born in Lucas County, Iowa Jan. 8, 1890, the daughter of Samuel and Hannah Cackler.

She married Raymond Huntley Brewer, her grade school sweetheart, in Chariton on Aug. 29, 1911. She and her husband raised five sons while farming near Chariton and then established the Brewer Welding Shop in Chariton.

They retired in 1955, remaining in their home on North Eighth St. until 1969 when they moved to Santa Barbara.

Survivors include her husband Raymond of Santa Barbara; four sons, Cleon of Santa Barbara; Chester of El Cajon; Randall of Los Angeles and Ward of Granada Hills, all in California; a sister, Jessie Clard of Cambria; 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Chariton Cemetery and will follow graveside services there at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18. A memorial service will be held Dec. 29 in California at Grandel Hall at 2:30 p.m. in the Samarkind Retirement Home where she resided.
