The Napa Daily Journal Friday, January 7, 1944, volume LXXXX, number 1, page 2, column 6: Kenneth V. Bunce, Former Banker Here, Succumbs Rltes were held at Haywards[Hayward] Wednesday for Kenneth V. Bunce, 41 well-known Napa man, who died at an Oakland Hospital after a short illness. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bunce of Napa and a former local banker. He had made his home in Hayward for the past four years. The services were followed by interment and graveside rites at Tulocay Cemetery here. Deceased was born here on September 3rd, 1902. He had attended the Napa schools, and shortly after leaving school entered the Bank of America, Napa Branch, where he began as a clerk and worked his way up to a position of high responsibility. When a vacancy occurred in the managership of the Bank of America, Brentwood Branch, some ten years ago, he was sent to Contra Costa County to assume that post. The family resided in Brentwood about five years, and then a promotion came which sent him on into a larger field of activity at Hayward, Alameda County, where as manager he took charge of the Bank of America, Hayward Branch. In Hayward Bunce became one of the leading citizens. He was President of the Rotary Club, served with the Chamber of Commerce, and offered his talents as a community leader of outstanding usefulness. He is survived by his wife, Edna, and a little nine-year-old son, Donald. There are also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bunce of Napa, his sister, Mrs. Edwin R. Hennessey of Napa and his brother, Harold Bunce of San Mateo, who survive.
