Jean Alice Harris Carty, of Suisun Valley, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2011, at home with family at her side after a long illness. She was born April 23, 1931, Amsterdam, New York, to Helen L. and Arthur W. Harris.

She spent her childhood in Marblehead, Mass., until the war year of 1944 when her naval officer stepfather, Lawrence Hall, was transferred to the San Francisco Bay area.

Jean attended the University of California at Los Angeles where she met her husband Robert J. Carty. They were married in Hollywood, Calif., on June 21, 1952, and moved to Suisun Valley in 1963.

Jean enjoyed her memberships in the Wednesday Club of Suisun, the Open Book Club and a number of bridge groups. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Jean is survived, and will be greatly missed, by her spouse of 58 years, 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren and her brother, Lynn W. Hall, resides in Washington State.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Pat and Araceli for the loving home nursing care they provided. Her favorite verse was: Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God."
