"Lite T. Morris and Elizabeth Bain (Hodge) Morris were in or near LaGrange, Lewis County, Missouri, from about 1828 to 1855, a period of 27 years. Thirteen children were born in that county, and eleven lived to migrate to Texas with the family in 1855. They had 1610 acres of land in Lewis County. They moved in wagons with several other families to Collin County, Texas. In 1855 they were south of McKinney, and in 1858 moved to where Roland was established a few miles northwest of McKinney. Lite T. Morris was the first settler near Roland. He accumulated considerable land, and donated land for the Liberty Church Campgrounds, which was abandoned in 1900. Obitha, a daughter and direct ancestor, joined the church at this campground. Some of this land was still in possession of a descendant 112 years later."
