G. B. KUK, EARLY PLATTE RESIDENT, DIES IN COLORADO

Word was received here by Frank Kuk, 1871 Thirty-eighth avenue, of the death of his father, Gottlieb B. Kuk, 91, Platte county homesteader at Wray, Colo., at 12:30 a.m. today.

Mr. Kuk had resided in Wray for the past 20 years, where he had gone for his health, making his home for 15 years with his son, Paul, and the past five years in a private hospital.

He was born in Bessarabia, Russia, Feb. 22, 1851, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Kuk. The family came to the United States in 1874 when Gottlieb Kuk homesteaded a farm seven miles north of Columbus. Later he moved to a farm four miles northeast of Columbus.

About 1890 he moved to Scotland, S.D., where he operated a general store for about 10 years, then moved to a farm at Wray. In 1917 he returned to Columbus, engaging in cattle buying for five years, returning to Wray in 1922.

Surviving are five sons, Daniel, Henry, Emil and Paul, of Denver, and Frank of Columbus; five daughters, Mrs. Rose Stutheit, Mrs. Mary Pfeiler and Mrs. Lydia Thomas, all of Idalia, Colo., Mrs. Eva Taylor of Denver and Mrs. Minnie Thomas of Vernon, Coll., 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mrs. Kuk and a son, Fred preceded him in death.

Funeral arrangements are pending. Burial will be in the Idalia cemetery.
