Beatrice, 80, entered into eternal rest, Saturday, at her home.
She was born to Warren and Pearl Overholt. She married John "Jack" R. Ashby on December 2, 1950 in Marion. He died August 8, 2002.
Mrs. Ashby wrote the column "Bits and Pieces" for the Marion Press for numerous years. She was a member of the Marion Community of Christ, worked previously at Riverside Manufacturing and was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary. She was deeply devoted to her family. She enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, gardening, her horses, crocheting, coffee, and working on the computer. She was a wonderful person that always had an "open door" for anyone to stop by and visit.
She is survived by her children, Michael Ashby of Marion, Sally (William) Krchmar of Oklahoma, Jon (Bonnie) Ashby of Marion, David (Cindy) Ashby of Fennville, Janet (Terry) Uselton of Texas, Arthur Ashby, Brenda (Tim) Cooper, Calvin (Valerie) Ashby and Douglas (Tammy Patterson) Ashby , all of Marion; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Nora (Abe) Ashby of New Mexico, Dorothy (David) Loomis of Missouri, Linda Overholt of Portage, and Ruth Ann (Edward "Skip")Ball of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Wade.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in Marion Community of Christ, Middle Branch Township. Pastor Brent Mitchell officiated.
Burial will be in Middle Branch Township Cemetery, Michigan.
