J. Cecil Franklin, 92, of Iron City, GA, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Christian Faith Church with Rev. Ron Kirkland and Rev. Herman Enfinger officiating. Interment will follow at Kelly Cemetery with Wilton Albritton, Michael Albritton, Darren Franklin, Benny Franklin, Mike Pepper, Joshua Briones, and Les Lovering serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 31, 2011 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.

Mr. Franklin was born September 18, 1918 in Colquitt, GA, the son of John D. Franklin and Matilda Newberry Franklin. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during WWII. Mr. Franklin was a farmer, a member of New Harvest Worship Center, and a member of Woodman of the World. He was preceded in death by his, wife Margaret Hall Franklin; his grandson, Bartley Briones; his great-granddaughter, Lena Margaret Herring; and his brothers, William Franklin, Hugh Franklin, J. D. Franklin, and Gene Franklin.

Survivors include his son, W. C. Franklin and his wife, Joyce, of Colquitt, GA; his daughters, Katherine Albritton and her husband, Ray, of Colquitt, GA and Beth Briones and her husband, Jimmie, of Moultrie, GA; his brother, Lonnie Franklin and his wife, Judy, of Bristol, FL; his sisters, Louise Dean and her husband, Tillman, of Bainbridge, GA, and Jenell Kelley and her husband, Max, of Donalsonville, GA; his thirteen grandchildren; his twenty-six great-grandchildren; and his 2 great-great-grandchildren.
