Louis William "Louie" Jehlicka, 73, Minot, ND, died November 13, 2003 in a Minot Hospital.

Louis was born on December 4, 1929, in Fordville, ND, the son of Louis and Pauline (Trenda) Jehlicka. He was reared and educated in Fordville. He started a career in the meat processing business, butchering his first pig when he was 15 years old. He worked with his father and brother, Rudy in their butcher shop until entering the US Army and serving during the Korean War. After serving two years in the military, he went back to Fordville, where he went back to work in the butcher shop until 1955, when he moved to St. Paul Park , Minnesota, where he worked for the Armor Meat Plant. Over the years he worked at various places as a meat cutter including, Fargo Piggly Wiggly, until he moved to Minot in 1968 where he worked for Piggly Wiggly. He later worked for the civil service as a meat cutter at the commissary at the Minot Air Force Base until his retirement in 1981. He then owned and operated Louies Kozy Bar in Minot for several years. He entered the Trinity Nursing Home in February of 2003, where he resided until the time of his death.

He was once married to Yvonne Fontaine, who he married on May 10, 1954.

Louis was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was an avid gardener and loved to fish, hunt, camp and spend time with his family.

Survivors: children, Roger (Cheryl) Jehlicka, Terry Jehlicka ( Fiancee, Lynn Kvigne), Debra Schwede (David) and Janelle Verhey (Dr. Jeffrey) all of Minot. Grandchildren, Brenden and Jenna Jehlicka, Dallas Rice; step grandchildren, Danielle , Melissa and Jessica Verhey all of Minot; brothers, Rudolph (Hermina) Jehlicka, Highlands Ranch, CO, Roman (Lorraine) Jehlicka, Bloomington, ND and Paul (Rita) Jehlicka, Fordville, ND, sister, Edith (Raymond) Dub, Fordville, ND; sister-in-law, Avis Jehlicka, Fordville, ND, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gabriel and William.
