Fay was the weekly organist at Springwater Methodist church from 1960 thru 1982, and provided the music for many weddings as well. She was employed at the Springwater Post Office for a number of years.

In 1983, Fay and John relocated to Neptune Beach, Florida, after John's retirement from General Motors. She became the organist and secretary of the First Christian Church of the Beaches where she worked until her passing. Surrounded by her family, she died peacefully at Baptist Medical Center Beaches in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. She was survived by her sister, June, a brother, Carl, four children, four grandchildren and twelve nieces and nephews.
