Ernest Julius Miller, Sr., of Charleston, widower of Carolyn Marie Bendt Miller, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 29, 2011.

Born in Charleston on Sunday, May 16, 1920, he was a son of Horace Eugene and Annie Virginia Rantin Miller.

Mr. Miller attended local schools. He honorably served his country in the US Army during World War II, Korea and Vietnam and retired after thirty years as a Chief Warrant Officer. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal.

He was employed by Vocational Rehab of South Carolina as a Workshop Supervisor.

Mr. Miller was a lifetime member of the Washington Light Infantry, charter member of the Military Officers Association of America, the Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Husband, father, friend and mentor. Loved by many and a friend to all.

He is survived by his children, Ave Maria M. Campbell and husband, Raymond, Theresa Ann M. Crump and husband, Wayne, Ernest J. Miller, Jr. and wife, Teresa; grandchildren: Ernie, Bernie, Randy, Robby, Russell, Tony, Regina, Shannon, Krissy and Misty; his twelve great-grandchildren; brothers: LeRoy T. Miller and Ralph L. Miller; sister, Ellen Fralix and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Horace, Herbert and Elizabeth.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery.
