Mrs. GRACE E. BAHAN
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Grace E. Bahan, 96, of 246 Bradford St., Bennington, who died Thursday at the Prospect Nursing Home in North Bennington.
Burial will follow in the family plot in White Chapel Cemetery, Bennington.
Mrs. Bahan, widow of Harris W. Bahan was born in East Poultney Oct 7, 1878 to Cyrus and Minerva (Fenton) Horton. She received her education in Vermont schools and was married in Hampton, N.Y. in 1894.
The Bahans settled in Bennington in 1914 and Mrs. Bahan worked in various laundries here. Mr. Bahan died in 1945. Mrs. Bahan was one of the oldest members of the First United Methodist Church in Bennington.
She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Flavilla Elwell of Bennington, Mrs. Minerva Shartrand of North Adams, Mass., Mrs. Jaska Elwell of Hoosick Falls, and Mrs. Alberta Malac of Northville, N.Y.; four sons, Harry of Shaftsbury, Ralph of Hoosick Falls, Milton of East Poultney and Carlton of Pownal; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Jaska Runkie, also of Northville; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, when the family will be in attendance.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the funeral home office.
