Max Whitehurst Maxey
Max Whitehurst Maxey was born December 3, 1878, in Pomona, Kas. and died November 6, age 46 years. He lived in Pomona and in Ottawa until young manhood, attended the high school and University of Ottawa and the state agricultural college of Manhattan.
In September, 1914, he was married in Chicago to Miss Katherine McHugh, who died two years later.
On November 23, 1920, he married Mrs. Lee Gautsch, of Minneapolis, Minn., who survives him. He made his headquarters at Chicago, going from there in pursuit of his business as electrical engineer for the Westinghouse company.
After a severe illness in Muscatine, Iowa, last May, he was in poor health, and was finally advised by his physician to seek a milder climated. He started for El Paso, Texas, on November 4, but passed away on the train on November 6 a short time before reaching his destination.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lee Maxey, of La Crosse, Wis; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Maxey of Pomona, and two sisters. Mrs. E. T. Fanning of Monrovia. Calif., and Mrs. F. W. Abel of Pomona. Kas.
Funeral services were held on November 10 at the residence of his sister, Mrs. F. W. Abel. In Pomona. Rev. J. F. Mitchell officiating. Internment was In Woodlawn cemetery, Pomona.
