Dan was born Sept. 19, 1918, to Reagan Browning and Lela Jay in Whiteflat, Texas. She married C.M. Barton on Dec. 16, 1940, in Lubbock, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1985. Dan worked for Gabriel's as a clerk for 30 years.
Dan was a lifelong resident of Matador. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Matador. She spent the remainder of her life at Hackberry Creek Care Center, Inc., in Matador.
Dan is survived by two daughters, Jan Hamilton of Aspen, Colo., and Cherri Karr of Whitney, Texas; one son, Max Barton of Fort Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.M. Barton, and her parents, Reagan and Lela Browning.
