Joni Villines
Resident of Clovis, CA, Passed away after a long illness on Friday, January 28, 2011 in Clovis, California. After bravely and graciously fighting her disease for many years, she went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother and friend to many, many people. She was always known for her sense of humor, her love of travel (especially cruising), her Sunday night dinners and her devotion to her family.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 22, 1939 to Richard and Mabel Neel, she was one of three sisters who traveled the country together before she settled in San Jose, Ca where she met the love of her life, Sonny Villines. They were married on Christmas Eve, 1960 and enjoyed their 50th Anniversary this last Christmas Eve. Joni and Sonny raised their children in San Jose, Ca before retiring to Clovis, Ca in 1992.

Joni was a homemaker and served as President of her children's coop nursery school. As the children got older, she became a real estate agent/broker with Coldwell Banker where she was regularly recognized as a national top-performing agent.

Joni was always politically active and believed in being involved and giving back to her community. She was proud of her title "Volunteer director" for Santa Clara County for Proposition 13 in 1978. After retirement, she became active in Fresno County Republican Party activities and loved her good friends in the Fresno County Republican Women's organization.

Her greatest joy came from her family. She loved being surrounded by her kids and grandchildren and always was available to baby sit and spoil her grandchildren. She was a passionate reader and passed her love of reading onto her kids and her grandkids.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Sonny Villines and their children; Joe Villines, Susan Villines and Mike Villines and his wife Christina and their three children Conor, Allison and Joshua. In addition, she is survived by her sister who she was very close to, Patricia and her husband Tom Marck of New Richmond, Ohio, Sisters-in -law Mae Egan of Tangent, Oregon, Jean and her husband Vince Brown of Licking, MO., Joan and her husband George Dickenson of LeGrand, CA, Beverly Ewing of Boise, ID and Brother in Law George Parker of Merced.

Joni will also be missed by close friends who were very special to her: Candy and John Southern and their Daughter Jamie Wiggins of Austin, TX., May Wong of San Jose, CA., Mona Macrenaris of Hollister, CA., Sue Tweety of Clovis, Ca. and Joan English of Roseville, CA.

She is preceded in Death by her sister, Dorothy White of Yuma, AZ., Sisters in Law Christine Watson of Yearington, Nevada, Maxine Parker of Merced, CA., and Brothers in Law Howard Villines of Fresno, CA., Conard Villines of Ponca City, OK., Kenneth Villines of Merced, CA. and Bill Villines of Merced, CA.

A Memorial Service will be held at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1880 E. Gettysburg in Clovis, CA on Saturday, February 26th at 11:00 a.m. with a private burial service at the family cemetery in Plainsburg, CA. at a later date.
