His mother, Isabella Holmes Glass died on the voyage (Ship- Andrew Foster) Dec. 15, 1853 as well as his sister Margaret and brother James. His surviving siblings were Jane, Charles H. and John G. Glass. Thomas married Mary H. Pangborn, daughter of Charles Thomas Pangborn and Charity Hough on Sept. 28, 1866 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. The couple had 11 children. Thomas and his daughter, Myrtle F. Glass Purdy were murdered by Myrtle's estranged husband, George W. Purdy on Oct. 31, 1912 in Dawson, Kidder County, N. Dakota.
