Obituary in The State, Columbia, SC, 18 Nov 1954: William Marion Kelly, 66, a prominent farmer of Lower Richland County, died at his residence early Wednesday morning after several years of declining health. He was born in Congaree, September 16, 1888, a son of the late Asa and Emma Kitterson Kelly and lived there his entire life. He was a member of Lebanon Methodist Church. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. V. Z. Burke, Mrs. Maggie Sox, and Mrs. Carrie Walker, all of Columbia, and a brother, C. T. Kelly of Eastover. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from the Lebanon Methodist Church at 11 o'clock Friday morning, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. R. Alan Pickett, the Rev. J. Stuart Hepler, pastor of Beulah Baptist Church and the Rev. Coy Muckle, pastor of Eason Memorial Baptist Church of Eastover. Active pallbearers will be: Stafford Thompson, Rembert Young, Arthur Horbart, Jr., Jack Yelton, Jack Dunn and B. F. Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be: Tom Price, John Cotton, W. S. Hogan, Sr., Mellette Jones, Fred Hill, Jim H. Young, George Pate, J. S. Storey, Louis LeConte, Dr. Isaac Haynes, H. C. Young, Dr. Gilbert Hogan, Wilbur Scott, Chief L. J. Campbell, E. H. Sloan, Will Harman, Belton Caughman, Claude P. Davis, Sr., B. S. Schoolbred, William Favor, Dr. J. H. Young, L. L. Abbot, M. L. Burton and Clifton Scott. All pallbearers are requested to meet at the church at 10:55 o'clock. The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Hoffman at 3925 Rosewood Drive. The body will remain at the Dunbar Funeral Home until time for the service.
