Elizabeth Catherine arrived in Baltimore in September of 1846 with her brother Ludwig Muhn and his family. She married George Waltjen and started a family in Baltimore, Maryland. George and Catherine had a total of 7 children together, 2 of which died at an early age. George was killed in the Civil War at the Battle of Antietam and left poor Catherine alone with 5 daughters. George's friend joseph Walker promised George that if anything ever happened to him, he would care for Catherine and the children. Joseph and Catherine eventually married and lived a happy life.

WALKER - Departed this life on April 26 at 10:10 PM. ELIZABETH CATHERINE WALKER, aged 65 years and 8 days, beloved wife of Jos. E. Walker. Due notice of the funeral will be given.
