Elihu Polk Benton Sr., the son of Jesse Benton and Phoebe Quick, married Sarilda (Zerilda) "Quilda" Crawford the daughter of Valentine "Vol" T. Crawford and Susannah "Susan" Ray. They were married on December 27th, 1853 in Estill County, Kentucky. At the age of 37, Sarilda died on September 27th, 1861 in Estill County, Kentucty. They had three known children together.

Elihu married Deborah (Dessie/Debby) Alcorn the daughter James Alcorn and Nancy Tudor. They were married on April 3rd, 1862 in Estill County, Kentucky.
