Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the chapel at Massie Funeral Home for Samuel Byrd , well known retired Collin County farmer who passed away at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Whit Lewis, in Denison at 10:15 p.m. Monday. The Rev. D. A. Grigg and the Rev. Earl Rogers officiated. Interment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery with grandsons of the deceased acting as pallbearers.
Mr. Allison, who was born August 29, 1870, in Newport, Tenn., was a son of the late Harbert and Lizabeth Allison. He had resided in Collin County 51 years. He was a member of the Foote Baptist Church and the W. O. W. In failing health the past few years, Mr. Allison had been seriously ill two and a half months prior to his death Monday night.
His survivors include three sons, Jim Allison of Calvin, Okla., Jack Allison of Dallas, and W. C. Allison of Denison; six daughters, Mrs. Will Pilkilton of Denison, Mrs. Chris W. LaFollette of McKinney, Mrs. Whit Lewis of Denison, Mrs. Dave Fisher, Mrs. Hubert Blazer and Mr. J. C. Eoff, all of McKinney; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Welch and Mrs. Ona Holloway of Newport, Tenn., and Mrs. Tom Carrell of Altus, Okla.; 30 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and two sons, his wife, Erman Carrell Allison, whom he married September 11, 1890 and who died April 11, 1947, preceded him in death.
