Verda Deane was the youngest of 10 children of William Pleasant and Cascinda (Barnett) Gilmore. She died at 10 years old, and was buried in a shared grave with her oldest sister's child, Howard Payne. They were first buried in the Fernwood Mausoleum, but were among the many Gilmore family members moved outside to in-ground graves when the building deteriorated.
