Frances M. "Fanny" Campbell Bodah was the third child born to James P. and Elizabeth Yeager Campbell, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Elizabeth was the daughter of John and Margaret Prettyman Yeager. A sister, Mary Ellen "Ella" Campbell (b. 1850), died before the 1860 census. The remaining children, Horace and Frances, were left without parents at a young age. There was a difficult divorce resulting with the father having custody. It is unknown what happened to the father. Horace moved to Saguache, Colorado, then settled in Roseburg, Oregon.

Throughout her life, Frances kept in contact with her brother Horace and his family. She came out to see them c. 1927 in Oregon (see photograph). She was married to Gideon Bodah (10/23/1871 Necedah, WI), settling in Nasonville, and adopting a daughter,Claudia Agatha (Johnson).
