Lester Martin, 83, of Galva, a retired area farmer, died at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, in the Kewanee Public Hospital, where he had been a patient the past two weeks. He had been in failing health the past few months.
He was born June 3, 1897, in Stark County, one of three children of Frank A. and Mary Murchison Martin. He was educated in the rural schools. He farmed in the Saxon and Toulon areas, until retiring to Galva in 1969.Martin married Sadie Fuller of Toulon, on October 18, 1917. She died May 7, 1980. Surviving are a brother, Marion Martin of Kewanee, and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents and wife, by a sister.
Private graveside services were Tuesday in the Toulon Cemetery.Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.The Johnson-Gill-Schuster Chapel, Galva, was in charge of arrangements.
