Gabriel Sylvester Richey was the son of William Nimrod Richey (1816-1880) and Ann Caroline McGee (1821-1877). According to his mother's cemetery records, he had nine siblings.
On February 7, 1878, he married Rebecca Lee Wedgeworth in Alabama. She was the daughter of Wiiliam Bledsoe Wedgeworth (1819-1899) and Statira Gaines (1823-1883). They had nine children:

There names are used interchangeably in genealogy data, but never together. In the 1900 census, Rebecca stated that she was the mother of 8 children, but only 7 were living. They had already lost one child, Leola Ann, in 1890.
All the children were born in Alabama, but by 1900 Gabriel and Rebecca were living in Comanche County, Tx, where they appear to have lived until their deaths.
