Janice Norma PEBLER
On Jan. 20, 2011, Janice Norma Pebler departed this life for her heavenly home. She was born on April 25, 1927, to Vlad and Edina Sedlacek, in Pender, Neb.

Because of her father's business, the family lived in several small towns in Nebraska, before moving to Lincoln, Neb., in 1935. Janice attended Elliot Elementary School, Whittier Junior High School, and in 1944 graduated from Lincoln High School.

After graduation, she worked as a long-distance telephone operator for the Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Co. After about two years, she began working as a medical secretary/stenographer in the outpatient department of the Veterans Administration Hospital.

Janice met Martin, her future husband, while bowling in Lincoln on Dec. 20, 1947. It was a whirlwind courtship; they became engaged on Feb. 14, 1948, and were married on June 13, 1948. The wedding took place at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lincoln, and was performed by Martin's father, the Rev. Carl Pebler.

Shortly after they were married, Martin joined the U.S. Air Force, which caused them to move several times. After their first assignment in Lincoln, the lived in Kansas, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri and Virginia. Their last assignment was Madrid, Spain, where they spent four enjoyable years. After retirement, they settled in Loveland in 1965.

Janice enjoyed several activities, including bowling, playing bridge, reading, working crossword puzzles, shopping, and being with her friends. She enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies, and was a longtime fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Janice is survived by a son, Jerald, of Englewood, Colo.; three granddaughters, Laura (Barry) Gerber, of Fairfax, Virginia; Jennifer (Jason) Scism of Arlington, Va., Carol (Daryl) Chin-Fatt of Alexandria, Va.; a great-granddaughter, Monet and great-grandsons Thomas and Eli. Also surviving is a son-in-law, Terry Brewster of Arlington, Va., two sisters-in-law, Ethylea Sedlacek, of Tampa, Fla., and Esther Miller of Gering, Neb.; brother-in-law, Otis Fancher of Cheyenne, Wyo.; plus two nephews, five nieces, several cousins and many good friends.

Preceding Janice in death are her husband, Martin, her daughter, Nancy Brewster, her parents and a brother, Donald.

She was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, and the Colorado Retired School Employees Association.

Cremation has been conducted. Memorial services and inurnment in Loveland Burial Park will be announced at a later date.
