Nancy Carlson Bacharach of Brigantine, N.J.
Nancy Carlson Bacharach, 81, of Brigantine, N.J. died on Monday, January 24, 2011 of complications following surgery.
She was the wife of the late Benjamin Bacharach, M. D. who died in March of 2003. They were married in August of 1957.
She was the daughter of the late Margaret and Gunard Carlson of Thorndale. She was also predeceased by an infant daughter Lisa. She is survived by her sister, Barbara C. Travaglini and her husband A. Frederick Travaglini of Downingtown and three nephews, Gunard Travaglini of Downingtown, Frederick C. Travaglini of Exton and Mark C. Travaglini of Jupiter, Fla. She is also survived by eight grand-nephews and nieces. Nancy was born in Easton, on October 11, 1929.
She attended Caln Elementary School in Thorndale, West Ward School in Downingtown, Downingtown Junior High School in Downingtown and graduated from Friends Central School in Philadelphia. She was a graduate of Bradford Junior College and Moore College of Art in Philadelphia where she majored in textile design. Several of her wallpaper designs were purchased by major wallpaper firms while she was a student at Moore. She had an avid interest in birds and bird watching. She was interested in butterflies and could identify many species. Her gardens were planted with shrubs, which were magnets for birds and butterflies. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of G. O. Carlson, Inc., Thorndale. She also was a past member of the Bacharach Foundation Board, the Brigantine Beach Historical Society, and the Marine Mammal Stranding Center.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service for Nancy at 11 a.m. on Tuesday February 1, 2011 at the Community Presbyterian Church, 1501 Brigantine Ave. Brigantine, NJ 08203. At the request of the family there will be no viewing.
Interment Laurel Memorial Park, Pomona.
