DODGE CITY – Donna Jean (Bridges) Hughes, 58, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at her home in Dodge City.
She was born July 5, 1951 in Dodge City, the daughter of Ronald and Bonnie (McAlpin) Bridges. Donna Worked at Wal-Mart for 18 years and was also a hair stylist. She was an avid Racing enthusiast and was a member of the Coronado Car Club. She was also a member of the Dodge City Women's Bowling Association and Relay for life.
She attended the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City.
Survivors include: her husband, Larry of the home whom she married on June 21, 1998 in Nis, Yugoslavia; her first husband, Laurence J. White, Sr. whom she married on Sept. 18, 1971; her son, Police Officer Joe White of Bronx, New York, her daughter Katie White of Lakefield, Minnesota.; her mother, Bonnie of Cimarron; 2 sisters: Debbie Clark of Cimarron and Linda Poe of Las Cruces, New Mexico, 3 grandchildren Jared, Jordian and Justin Tirevold of Lakefield, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald.
Vigil service will be 7:00 pm Sunday July 12, 2009 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday, at the church, with Fr. Ted A. Skalsky presiding. Friends may call from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Burial will be in the Cimarron Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of the Prairie or the Donna Hughes Memorial Scholarship Fund both in care of Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel 1901 N. 14th Ave. Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
